SHED engages architecture as a practical art. We practice pragmatically but with idealism. A directness of purpose and an economy of means results in unexpected and forward thinking design solutions. In this pursuit we value ingenuity derived from investigation rather than originality, open-minded exploration of core ideas and objectives rather than the imposition of a style, and responsiveness to economical and sustainable design principles and building practices. We value substance over style and work toward design solutions that are direct, innovative and project specific. SHED takes on a mix of residential and commercial commissions, from selective remodels/additions and high performance houses to adaptive re-use of historic buildings.
