Since 2005,  Shred South has been locally owned and operated by Steve Bograd with its base located in Statesville, NC.  Unlike many other document destruction companies, Shred South is not part of a large, corporate franchise.  Shred South was developed while researching various business ideas involving recycling.  Steve learned that identity theft costs the U.S. economy approximately $56.4 billion annually.  The majority of this identity theft involves paper.  He also quickly learned that the burden of protecting consumer information was being put on the shoulders of businesses and corporations.  The vision was clear –destroy confidential records on the front side and recycle the destroyed material  on the back side.  This is a solution for businesses needing to comply with the handling of consumer information and a way to conserve natural resources at the same time.
