Siba, the Sibelius Academy, is a higher education institution based in Helsinki, Finland, employing between 501 and 1000 people. It provides training for artists capable of independent artistic work, as well as educators and other music professionals, and it engages in research, performance, and creative activities to support Finland’s musical culture and cultural heritage. The academy offers programs at bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels, along with Open University and Continuing Education for youth and adults, with individualized study plans for doctoral studies. Artistic activities are a primary mission, and the academy produces hundreds of concerts annually within the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. In January 2013, the Sibelius Academy merged with the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts and the Theatre Academy Helsinki to form the University of the Arts Helsinki.
