Based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the Sioux Falls Sports Authority was established in 2006 by community leaders to recruit major sporting events to the area. It pursues this objective by leveraging local sports facilities—through operations, leasing, enhancement, or ownership—to attract international, national, regional, and state competitions. The organization is governed by a 15-member board of community members and is led by an executive director and a project director, supported by a small staff. Its work centers on coordinating venues and partnerships to position Sioux Falls as a host for a variety of events. Recently, the authority announced that Sioux Falls will host the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship for a second consecutive year in 2025, in collaboration with the NSIC. It has also partnered with Augustana University to stage events at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, and has previously facilitated events such as the Sioux Falls Boxing Classic. The organization has indicated plans to host multiple NCAA Championships across 2023–2026, reflecting its ongoing role in attracting major collegiate and amateur sports to the region.
