As a 331-bed acute care community hospital with two campuses located in the heart of Slidell, La., we provide access to the latest treatments and technology, and expert physicians:

In 2013, we expanded our Emergency Room and added the SMH Heart Center to meet the needs of St. Tammany's growing population. This expansion brought 29 new emergency beds and 38 specialized cardiac rooms.

Our Regional Cancer Center, the only facility of its kind in East St. Tammany, is designed to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate our patients in one state-of-the-art facility. SMH is one of the only hospitals on the Northshore with a new Multidisciplinary Clinic. 

Our Outpatient Rehabilitation therapists are certified in LSVT-BIG treatment, a new technique that treats patients with Parkinson's disease or other neurological disorders.

In 2016, Slidell Memorial Hospital and Ochsner Health System celebrated the formation of a long-term, strategic partnership focused on the continuation of high quality care, cost reduction through coordinating and improving resources, and increased local access to care for the residents of the Slidell community. 

The partnership has added new services and medical specialists to our community that previously did not exist, such as:
-Cancer clinical trials
-Expanded cardiology services with the addition of a third Cardiac Catheterization Lab at SMH; Impella® technology, the world's smallest heart pump to support patients' hearts during high-risk heart procedures; and expanded heart surgery on-call to 24/7 coverage
-Robot-assisted surgery
-24 recruited physicians to provide primary care and specialized services locally
-Specialty clinics, including the Comprehensive Weight Loss Center and the Back and Spine Center
