Small World Yoga is a Nashville-based nonprofit organization that seeks to make yoga accessible to people with limited access by connecting instructors and volunteers to the broader community. Founded in 2014, the group conducts regular classes at nonprofits, schools, prisons, recovery centers, and other local sites, tailoring each session to the participants' age and background and offering a range of practices from dynamic vinyasa to restorative and chair yoga. In addition to free community classes, SWY brings instructors together for workshops and trainings to advance teaching skills, including topics such as Kids Yoga, Yoga for Trauma, and Adaptive Yoga for Cancer. The organization opened Nashville’s first nonprofit yoga studio in 2018, where visitors can attend classes in a heated studio with a modest donation. SWY also organizes two annual events, International Day of Yoga and the Music City Yoga Festival, to raise awareness and engage participants of all ages and levels.
