Socar Türkiye is the Turkish arm of the Azerbaijan state oil company SOCAR, operating in the oil and gas sector from Istanbul's Sarıyer district. Its Turkish activities began in 2008 after purchasing a majority stake in Petkim from the Privatization Administration, signaling its entry into the local market. The group encompasses entities such as Petkim, TANAP, STAR Rafineri, SOCAR Terminal, Petkim RES, Bursagaz, Kayserigaz, SOCAR Enerji Ticaret, SOCAR Ticaret, and SOCAR Depolama, with core operations spanning petrochemical production and trading, refining, and natural gas trading and distribution. It also holds land in Aliağa that carries a Private Industrial Zone designation, the first of its kind in Turkey. Socar Türkiye is described as Turkey's largest industrial group and serves as a symbol of growing Azerbaijan–Turkey economic cooperation, reinforcing Turkey's profile in international energy markets. The company provides an integrated platform across refinery, petrochemicals, energy, logistics, distribution, and storage to support end-to-end capabilities for its customers. Based in Istanbul, the group maintains a sizable footprint and workforce. In 2024, SOCAR Fiber entered a strategic partnership with Exa Infrastructure to develop a new terrestrial fibre optic route, expanding the group's connectivity and infrastructure footprint.
