The Society of Cannabis Clinicians is a nonprofit professional association that brings together physicians and other healthcare providers focused on medical cannabis within the broader field of alternative medicine. Based in Los Angeles, California, it offers continuing education to clinicians, patients, and colleagues on the medical use of cannabis and practical approaches to clinical care. For more than two decades, SCC clinicians have tracked patient cannabis use and assembled a body of clinical evidence and treatment strategies, with the aim that forthcoming trials will validate these methods and that impediments to research are removed. Its work centers on sharing clinical evidence, developing best-practice standards for cannabis consultations, and evaluating policies related to cannabis research, production, and safety. It also seeks to encourage medical graduates and other healthcare professionals to discuss cannabis as a treatment option, and it defends physicians' rights to practice cannabis-based medicine while pursuing greater access to clinical research. The organization provides continuing medical education and membership opportunities, maintains a Physicians Locator Map to connect patients with cannabis-friendly clinicians, and hosts a Research Library housing hundreds of rigorously vetted studies.
