Sonnys RV was founded in 1969 by Sonny Slusser in Charleston, South Carolina as a service company for mobile homes and travel trailers.  He quickly diversified to sales of mobile homes and deliveries.

In 1970 Sonny bought a 1964 Open Road which needed to be rebuilt.....thus the begining of a prosperous journey into the RV industry.  In 1971, he and an old high school buddy though that manufacturing RVs was a venture worth pursuing, however, after manufacturing one motorhome, he decided that perhaps RV sales would be a better idea.

He quickly outgrew the facility on Sieberling Avenue, therefore in 1973 he opened a full line RV dealership on Dorchester Road, Charleston, South Carolina.  He became very active in the Recreational Dealers Association and it's promotion nationwide.  Continuing to expand, in 1977 he purchased an existing Airstream dealership in Greensboro, North Carolina which he still owns and oversees today.  

Still searching for new markets in his quest to become one of the largest RV dealers in the Southeast, he opened another RV dealership in Spartanburg, South Carolina in February 1984 and then in 1989 he sold it to his younger brothers.

Through Sonny's continued direction and encouragement, a lot of hard work, and the blessings of God, Sonny's Camp N Travel of Spartanburg Inc. has developed to be the #1 RV Dealer in South Carolina and in 2012 opened a new dealership in Concord, North Carolina.
