As one of the oldest community college's in the country, South Suburban College (SSC) was founded in 1927 as an institution of higher education for all who wished to learn, regardless of age, wealth or previous academic experience. Now more than 10,000 students, on average, are enrolled annually at South Suburban College through locations in South Holland and Oak Forest, Illinois, as well as online. SSC proudly continues its tradition of affordability, while providing comprehensive scholarship, technology, and emergency aid opportunities for ALL students. An SSC education is rooted in the talent and experience of a caring faculty delivering cutting-edge instruction in a wide selection of career education programs. Students can earn the skills and credentials for a rewarding career in two years or less, or gain credits through college transfer programs. Additionally, South Suburban College’s Division of Community Education offers free Adult Basic Education and Literacy, HSE, and ESL programs, as well as non-credit professional development opportunities. Bulldogs Athletic Programs are second to none in the National Junior College Athletic Association with men’s sports of baseball, basketball, and soccer, as well as women’s basketball, softball, volleyball, and soccer. Bulldogs teams feature excellent coaching staffs that motivate student-athletes to achieve success both on the field and in the classroom. Hundreds of former players have transferred on Scholarship to four-year colleges and universities. Bulldogs teams have won countless Regional and District Championships, and several have advanced to Nationals with players garnering National awards.
