Illinois Central College (ICC) is a community college located in the greater Peoria area. The college opened its doors 1967 to more than 2,000 students. Today the college annually serves more than 13,000 students and offers more than 1,500 classes per semester. As an open access college, ICC welcomes any student who is willing to learn. ICC's mission is: "Through learning, minds change. We believe by changing minds, we can change the world." ICC offers 55 programs of study leading to an Associate in Arts or Science degree; 52 programs of study leading to an Associate Degree in Applied Science; and 61 programs leading to occupational certificates. The average class size is 16. Tuition for the academic year 2018-2019 is $150 per credit hour. ICC offers a wide variety of continuing education and specialized training through its Professional Development Institute (PDI). ICC also offers recreational classes and a special summer session for young people called "College for Kids." The Performing Arts Center provides a wide variety of student and guest musical, theatrical and other performances. ICC fields nine athletic teams. ICC serves 10 central Illinois counties, with most students residing in Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford counties. The community college district (514) covers 2,322 square miles.
