SEED is a nonprofit organization operating in the real estate field as a community development corporation based in Seattle, in the Southeast Seattle region. Founded in 1975, its mission is to improve the quality of life in Southeast Seattle by fostering partnerships and mobilizing investments in housing, arts, and economic development, with an emphasis on residents who have fewer opportunities. It focuses on community outcomes and works to connect local stakeholders with development opportunities. In 2015, SEED partnered with the Rainier Valley Historical Society and Marcus Green of South Seattle Emerald to launch a monthly series of presentations and discussions on racism. As a small nonprofit, SEED concentrates its efforts on housing, arts, and economic development to benefit residents in the Southeast Seattle area.
