Southeast Louisiana Legal Services is a nonprofit legal services organization based in New Orleans that provides civil legal assistance to low income residents in southeast Louisiana. Founded in 1979 through a merger with the New Orleans Legal Assistance Corporation, the agency serves 22 parishes with a sizeable staff and many volunteers. Its work focuses on removing barriers to safety, housing, income, education, and medical care for vulnerable populations at times when legal help is most needed, including protection for domestic violence victims, representation for abused and neglected children in foster care, and efforts to preserve housing for working families. The organization also assists people with disabilities and veterans in accessing services and supports disaster response across the region. 

SLLS is active in disaster law and operates a statewide Low Income Taxpayer Clinic, while administering LouisianaLawHelp.org, a public information site that provides legal information and self help resources to more than 150,000 people annually. The group responds promptly to disasters and is recognized for helping communities recover after events such as hurricanes and floods. A notable collaboration in recent years was a partnership with Ascension Parish Library to offer free legal clinics for individuals and families who meet income eligibility requirements.
