Southeast Polk Community School District is a public K-12 district based in Altoona, Iowa, encompassing a high school, a junior high, a sixth-grade center, and eight elementary schools. With about 7,000 students enrolled in the 2021-2022 school year, it operates as a mid-sized district serving a broad elementary through high school footprint. The district emphasizes modern instructional technology, a progressive curriculum and state-of-the-art facilities to support student learning, and it is recognized as a Model PLC District. In 2026 the district announced leadership transitions, naming Dr. Tony Aylsworth as superintendent effective July 1, 2026, along with the appointment of Dr. Justin Colbert as deputy superintendent and Carol Eddy as Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, amid retirements of longtime leaders. The school district continues to participate in community events, including career and apprenticeship fairs and regional awards showcases.
