Founded in 1930, the Southern Highland Craft Guild is a regional organization focused on handmade crafts, based in Asheville, North Carolina. It represents roughly 900 craftspeople across 293 counties in nine southeastern states. The guild operates four craft shops and hosts two annual craft expositions, facilitating access to crafts for buyers in the Appalachian region. Educational programming is a central element, delivered through demonstrations at retail outlets and expos, free community events, and a public library at the headquarters. By connecting artisans with audiences, the guild supports market access and skill development for craftspeople while enabling public engagement with handmade work. Through its shops, expos, and education programs, it remains a significant part of the Southeastern crafts economy, anchored in the Asheville area.
