Southern University System is a higher education organization based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and is described as the only historically black university system in the United States. It comprises five campuses: Southern University at Baton Rouge, Southern University at New Orleans, Southern University at Shreveport, the Southern University Law Center, and the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center. The system provides a comprehensive range of degree programs—from two-year and four-year undergraduate studies to graduate, professional, and doctoral programs—and its programs are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC).

Serving a diverse student population across its campuses, the system also pursues collaborative initiatives with external partners. In 2026, Southern University Shreveport, Inc announced a partnership with Willis-Knighton Health System, signaling ongoing external collaborations within its regional community.
