WE BELIEVE in changing lives one home and one community at a time.
WE BELIEVE in hope.

Domestic violence is an epidemic affecting individuals in every community, regardless of age, economic status, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, or nationality. It is often accompanied by emotionally abusive and controlling behavior that is only a fraction of a systematic pattern of dominance and control. Domestic violence can result in physical injury, psychological trauma, and in severe cases, even death. The devastating physical, emotional, and psychological consequences of domestic violence can cross generations and last a lifetime.

Maxine Kruschke founded Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women In 1982 after leaving a 32-year marriage marred by domestic violence. Ms. Kruschke and a group of volunteers offered direct support to 5 victims of domestic violence out of her kitchen. Since that time SVABW has provided services, advocacy and support to over 18,000 women and their children on their journey for a violence free, healthy family life.

SVABW wants to know you. Domestic violence is a somber, serious issue but together with our program partners and our communities we can support victims, and increase awareness so we can prevent it from happening to our families and friends. We are available to speak at events, community and professional organizations, or your company.
