The Sparta Area School District, located in Sparta in western Wisconsin, provides public primary and secondary education to local communities. Its strength lies in a dedicated staff and learning environment supported by a progressive curriculum, individualized instruction, unique charter schools, active student organizations, and comprehensive special education programs. Community investment in facilities and educational technology, along with partnerships with local businesses and industry that offer work experiences, Junior Achievement instruction, financial support, and presentations, underpins its approach; parental involvement is a defining element through home activities, parent organizations, tutoring, and co-curricular activities. The district serves Sparta and surrounding western Wisconsin communities with public education across primary and secondary grades. A notable recent development is the appointment of Russell as superintendent for the 2025-26 school year, following his prior role as high school principal in the district.
