Human beings are on the verge of causing a mass extinction of life on Earth. A majority of the world's biologists now believe that if current trends continue, half of all species of plants and animals living today will be extinct in less than 100 years. The general public, however, is almost entirely unaware of this crisis. Species Alliance is a nonprofit organization committed to raising public awareness of the mass extinction and its implications for humanity and the rest of the living world. We are dedicated to exploring and facilitating creative and effective responses. We aim to stimulate changes in public policies and human behavior which will assure a healthy future for life on Earth. Although we are in the eleventh hour, there is still a chance to halt or significantly mitigate the extinction. Since the human species is the cause of the present crisis, we also have the power to stop it.
