Spex is a mid-sized eyewear retailer and in-house optometry practice based in Chicago, Illinois, with a network of stores that provide SpexWellness eye exams using advanced technology. The retail spaces offer a curated selection of eyewear and sunwear from luxury and designer brands, emphasizing craftsmanship and varied styles. The company previously operated a Chicago-area footprint of two dozen stores as of 2015, with a Hilton Head Island location opened in 2014.

Its model combines eye care services with eyewear sales, serving customers who seek both professional examinations and fashion-forward frames. The business positioned itself within the eyewear retail and eye-care segment, expanding through store openings and in-store events such as trunk shows. In February 2016, Spex was acquired by MyEyeDr., integrating into a larger network of optometry practices.
