The Spina Bifida Association of America is a national nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by Spina Bifida, including both children and adults, as well as those touched by the condition. Founded in 1973, it focuses exclusively on Spina Bifida and pursues its mission through education, advocacy, research, and direct services. The organization operates across more than 125 communities in the United States and connects thousands of individuals to reliable information and local support through its network, including its National Resource Center housed in Arlington, Virginia. Its programs include an annual National Conference in June and SB University, an online webinar series, both designed to educate and inform about Spina Bifida. SBA also convenes the World Congress on Spina Bifida Research and Care periodically, bringing together health professionals, researchers, and scientists to advance understanding of the condition. A notable development in 2019 was a collaboration with the Children’s Research Fund.
