Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation (SASF) is a non-profit organization based in New York, focused on closing the academic performance gap for under-achieving students. It runs year-round, school-based programs that extend the school day and year with activities in sports, arts, homework help, and academic enrichment, aiming to improve students’ academic outcomes, health and wellness, attitudes toward school, self-confidence, character, and future employment opportunities. The organization serves students in public schools across New York City and the metropolitan region, primarily reaching those from low-income neighborhoods who attend schools facing academic challenges. SASF operates as a large-scale provider of after-school programs, delivering services free of charge with programs funded mainly by public sources supplemented by private funds. The foundation is located in Woodside, New York, and is one of the largest providers of such programs in its area, offering activities before and after school, on Saturdays, during holidays, and in the summer. A recent development is the ongoing expansion of its program model to reach a broad base of K-12 students through diverse activities designed to complement traditional education.
