Sports Backers is a charitable nonprofit organization in the spectator sports sector based in Richmond, Virginia. Over more than three decades, it has developed and managed a portfolio of events aimed at encouraging active living, including well-known races, a dragon boat festival, and other community-focused runs and athletic challenges. The organization also runs programs such as Bike Walk RVA, Fitness Warriors, and Kids Run RVA to promote physical activity across the Metro Richmond area, leveraging partnerships with local organizations, businesses, governments, and faith-based institutions to broaden its impact. Its events and programs are designed to be accessible to a wide audience and to integrate active living into the community as a practical choice rather than a special effort. A recent development includes partnerships and program enhancements, such as collaborations with Capital One and the introduction of new initiatives to support running and walking clubs in the region.
