The Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute is the research arm of Ann & Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. It is described as the largest independent, research-driven pediatric academic medical center in Illinois and is recognized as a top-tier pediatric research center in the United States. It is one of the few freestanding pediatric research centers in the country, supporting more than 550 investigators across about 2,000 studies. Its mission is to advance child health, transform pediatric medicine, and secure healthier futures through sustained discovery. Based in Chicago, Illinois, the institute operates as a relatively small, specialized research institution within a hospital system. In 2026, the affiliated Children’s Research Fund opened a new location in Downers Grove, reflecting ongoing growth of the wider research ecosystem.
