Statewide was founded by Bob Ashley in 1949 as the Jackson USDA Federal Credit Union. Originally volunteer run, it originally served USDA employees in Mississippi. Demand grew among USDA employees for the great saving and borrowing opportunities the credit union provided, and Statewide quickly grew into a full-service financial institution.

In 1990, we began expanding the membership groups served by the credit union, merging with the Mississippi Educational Credit Union. Since then, six other credit unions have merged with us, and in 2000 we adopted the name Statewide to more accurately reflect the breadth of our membership.

Today, Statewide serves more than 80 membership groups and over 17,000 members. We are one of the largest credit unions in Mississippi and maintain strong financial ratings and a record of conservative, member-oriented leadership.

We’ve been planting our roots, building trust and forging relationships across Mississippi for generations. When it comes to Statewide, our members, and our state, we are one team—and always have been.
