Stimdia Medical, Inc. is a privately held medical equipment company headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It has developed the pdSTIM System, a minimally invasive, temporary neuromuscular stimulation system designed to awaken and restore diaphragm function for patients on mechanical ventilation. The system uses subcutaneously inserted leads connected to a console and coordinates phrenic nerve stimulation with diaphragmatic movement in synchrony with the ventilator through proprietary sensing and stimulation algorithms. The pdSTIM System has received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation. 

The technology targets patients requiring respiratory support where diaphragm weakness can hinder weaning from ventilation. At present, regulatory clearance has not been granted, and the system is not for sale.
