Stone Hill Winery is a mid-sized wine producer based in Hermann, Missouri, with roots dating to 1847. In its early history it grew to be the second-largest winery in the United States and earned gold medals at world’s fairs, including Vienna in 1873 and Philadelphia in 1876. By the 1870s it shipped around 1,250,000 gallons of wine annually. Today it is Missouri’s oldest and most awarded winery, producing roughly 300,000 gallons per year with modern equipment and technology. Its winemaking team produces wines that have received international acclaim and have accumulated more than 4,000 awards since 1988. In December 2025, Stone Hill launched the Heritage Grape Project to explore historic American cultivars such as Norton and assess their potential for sustainability in today’s wine landscape.
