Studio Luna is a virtual and physical center specializing in innovating and teaching creative collaboration and storytelling through a foundation of ensemble theatrical praxis. Founded in 2000 as Teatro Luna in Chicago, expanding as Teatro Luna West in 2015 in Los Angeles, and finally transitioning to a new entity, Studio Luna in Boyle Heights in 2021, Luna continues its legacy of generating award-winning original theatre, digital media, and cultural disruptions that empower Women of Color. Recognized by The New York Times as “Theatre That Matters” Luna shamelessly cultivates bold and brave spaces where artistic risk is the only currency that matters, failure is a sought-after milestone of growth, and transformation is the party favor everyone gets to take home. Forged through a history of activism, Luna believes that theatre is one of the best tools for bearing social change into our lived experience. 2025 marks our 25th anniversary, where we celebrate having created and produced two audible original projects, developed and produced 18 original full-length devised plays and six single-author works that have world-premiered and toured internationally, and produced over 700 one-night events in cities across the United States alongside our residencies at universities and community centers.
