Sub Sea Research LLC (SSR), a Maine company founded in 1994, maintains a fleet of ships and scientific exploration equipment to engage in research, development and exploration activities around the world aimed at finding, recovering or preserving underwater shipwrecks of special historical and cultural significance.

SSR most active discovery and recovery is on its “arrested” shipwreck in 700 feet of water off the coast of New England containing a traditional cargo valued at $165M and a secret cargo of precious metals including 71 tons of platinum valued at  ~$2.8 billion dollars.  Another WWII wrecks may be operational in the winter season.  These wrecks have a cargo of precious metals valued at $4.8B.

SSR owns and maintains significant research vessels and equipment including a 220 ft. ship with 125 ton crane, a 95 ft. scientific and research ship as well as underwater remotely operated vehicles, submarine, side scanning multibeam sonars, visualization and navigation sysem PODs and many other assets for discovery and recovery engagements.
