Sumter Coatings is a chemical manufacturer focused on paints and coatings. It was founded in fall 1996 after the closure and consolidation of Southern Coatings and Pratt & Lambert, drawing on a combined history of more than 250 years in the coatings industry. The company operates from a 71,000-square-foot facility in Sumter, South Carolina, devoted to research, development, and production of coatings. The plant uses stainless steel mixing tanks mounted on load cells for precise measurement of raw materials, can produce batches up to 5,000 gallons, and can reach weekly production of more than 60,000 gallons. Over more than two decades, Sumter Coatings has built longstanding relationships and developed new products within the coatings sector. In 2025, the company was acquired by ErgonArmor, Inc., and became part of the ErgonArmor division.
