Today the cooperative serves about 27,000 accounts and maintains roughly 4,000 miles of distribution line, with a mission to provide safe, affordable, reliable energy to its member-owners. In 2026, leadership changes include the appointment of Bryon Kennedy as assistant general manager and the planned retirement of longtime executive Greg Puckett by year-end. The organization has pursued collaborations beyond core service, such as a 2025 partnership with the Town of Elkin and a 2023 Cleantech Innovation Award recognizing a carbon emissions reduction project developed with Hollar & Greene Produce.
