TechStar Tutors is the leading provider of personalized, in-home technology tutoring that empowers older adults with the knowledge and skills to excel in the modern technologically-driven world. Personalized one-on-one or group technology lessons for each customer are delivered by tech-savvy college students or graduates in each local community. This customized technology tutoring strategy makes sure that adults 50 and older have the individual attention needed to help them embrace all today’s newest technologies, including tablets, smartphones, and social networking. Founded in late 2015, TechStar Tutors journey began with a vision that everyone has that one person in their life that wants to be better at using their cell phones, laptops, and social media sites to stay connected with friends and family. For Carter Glotz, a student at Virginia Tech, that was his grandparents. After tearing his ACL playing football with friends and not being able to get a regular summer job, he spent time on college breaks teaching both sets of grandparents how to better use their phones, computers and Facebook. Carter quickly realized the market needed a tech guru type service that his grandparents and other adults out there could use to learn more about their technology devices. What better way than to have college students and graduates, who are already advanced at using technology and looking for resume-worthy jobs, to deliver these services to the world? Together with his family and a strong team behind him, Carter launched TechStar Tutors in Richmond, VA in June, 2016. TechStar Tutors currently has launched in Boulder and Denver, CO, Richmond, VA and in the Blacksburg and Roanoke Valley in VA. We are planning on expanding throughout all of Virginia, with the eventual goal to be in every city across the Nation!
