The Agora Companies is a Baltimore-based internet publishing group focused on financial, health, and lifestyle content. It emphasizes independent thinking and personal responsibility across its publishing portfolio, guided by founder Bill Bonner, who launched the venture in Washington, D.C. in 1978 and later moved it to the Mt Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore in the 1990s. The company seeks to share ideas and opportunities that are frequently overlooked by mainstream media. The group serves readers seeking unconventional viewpoints and forward-looking strategies for the global marketplace, providing content that informs decision-making in its core areas. In June 2026, the City of Baltimore filed a lawsuit alleging deceptive online advertising practices by the Baltimore-based Agora Companies, LLC, including misrepresentation of product benefits and high-pressure subscription pitches.
