The AIDS Institute is a nonprofit public policy organization focused on HIV/AIDS and related health issues, pursuing social change through policy research, advocacy, and education. Originating from a mid-1980s grassroots effort, it was incorporated in 1992 as Florida AIDS Action and later expanded into a national public policy research, advocacy, and education agency with offices in Tampa and Washington, DC. It is affiliated with the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, and while HIV/AIDS remains its core focus, it also addresses hepatitis and other infectious and chronic diseases. Based in Tampa, Florida, the organization works with policymakers, researchers, educators, and health professionals to inform policy and improve access to care. In September 2024, it announced the launch of a National HIV/AIDS initiative, a concrete development in its public policy and advocacy work.
