Richard Braun entered the financial services industry in 1995 with a passion for creating and protecting financial freedom for himself and his clients. He started The Braun Agency in 1998 and grew the agency one client at a time for four years until he acquired the Jean Owens – Nationwide Agency in 2002.

Now, The Braun Agency serves thousands of households and small businesses in and around Hampton Roads with offices on the Southside and the Peninsula. According to the Nationwide Awards and Recognition Report from December 2016, The Braun Agency performs in the top 10% of all Nationwide Agencies across the country. Our team of 13 associates has a combined 175 years of experience in financial services and creating tailored insurance plans to protect our clients.

The focus has always been on educating and advising clients on ways to grow and protect their wealth. Richard believes that financial education is empowering, yet often lacking. According to the CFP Board, Richard is the only Nationwide Agency owner in Hampton Roads who is a Certified Financial Planner .  Richard also volunteers as an instructor for Bank On Virginia Beach which provides free, basic financial education and coaching to residents of Hampton Roads.
