On empty stomachs, kids don’t have the energy to focus, engage, learn and grow. Yet, this is the reality for many children who worry about when they’ll have their next meal. Since 2010, The Children's Hunger Project has been delivering food packages to help as many elementary school children as possible to carry kid-friendly food home in their backpack that is lightweight and easy for the kids to handle with no cooking is required.
Kids return to school with a better and healthier foundation for learning. To continue helping local children fuels our passion and compassion to work on behalf of kids in Brevard. Some schools have over 80% of students eligible for the free lunch program. It costs only $16 per month to feed a school-age child on the weekends for the entire school year. This makes hunger-free weekends a reality for many children who face food insecurity.
