The Florida Lottery is a state-operated lottery program established in Florida after a 1986 constitutional amendment that aimed to boost public education funding. Its core mandate is to maximize revenues for education by offering a range of lottery games, while maintaining a standard of quality for players. Based in Tallahassee and employing a workforce described as hundreds, the organization operates within the public sector as part of government services designed to support educational objectives.

Its primary customers are Florida residents who participate in the lottery, with proceeds directed to education and related programs such as Florida Bright Futures. The Lottery also provides resources to students, families, and educators to help interpret and access scholarship information. In May 2026, it launched a Bright Futures resource page on its website to assist users navigating the scholarship program.
