The Franciscan Center of Baltimore is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to nourishing, supporting, and empowering individuals and families in crisis by providing access to nutritious meals, vital resources, and compassionate care that promotes long-term stability and dignity. We meet individuals at their most vulnerable and support them on their journey toward stability, dignity, and hope. Since 1968, we have served as a trusted sanctuary in the heart of the city, providing nutritious meals, essential resources, and a strong sense of community for those experiencing poverty and hardship. Each day, we prepare and serve hundreds of chef-crafted meals with care and intention—demonstrating our commitment to high-quality, nutritious, locally sourced food and our belief that everyone deserves access to wellness, dignity, and joy, regardless of their circumstances. Our work extends beyond the plate. We assist individuals in obtaining identification and vital documents, preventing eviction, accessing healthcare, and developing the skills necessary for long-term independence. Through personalized outreach and inclusive community events, we walk alongside our neighbors as they rebuild their lives with purpose. Central to our empowerment efforts is the Dignity Plates Culinary Academy—a 13-week workforce development program that prepares students for careers in the culinary industry. Students receive hands-on training in our teaching kitchen, earn ServSafe certification, and benefit from ongoing mentorship. Through our Dignity Plates Catering service and B&O Café Enterprise in partnership with the B&O Railroad Museum, students gain real-world experience that builds confidence, purpose, and opportunity. Whether through a meal, a moment of support, or a second chance, the Franciscan Center is here to nourish, uplift, and empower—one neighbor at a time. IG: @fcbmore FB: facebook.com/fcbmore
