The Fund for Community Progress envisions a just and equitable society. We believe that a healthy community respects human rights, celebrates diversity, promotes citizen participation, and achieves justice for all in every sphere. The mission of The Fund for Community Progress is to build a better community by raising funds for nonprofit grassroots agencies committed to a vision of social change necessary to guarantee fairness and opportunity for all Rhode Islanders. From children to the elderly… From physical ailments to mental health issues… From advocacy for fairer energy policies… To programs that build housing people can actually afford… The Fund’s agencies create a future full of promise. The Fund for Community Progress is a 501(c)(3) corporation. The Fund operates under the leadership of a strong, collaborative board of directors made up of representatives from all member agencies plus a number of at-large members, supported by two staff members. The Board meets four times a year and is responsible for overall governance of The Fund. It also determines each member agency's share of undesignated Fund revenues, a formula tied to each group's participation in The Fund's work. All Fund agencies have a seat on the board. Members help with the annual campaign, general fundraising and gaining access to new worksites. They assist with publicity and with special events. Agencies prepare annual self-evaluations to assess their own participation relative to their peers. Their performance directly influences the amount of undesignated Fund revenues they receive. Annual member dues are $250, except for one founding member that pays $100. The real work of The Fund is conducted by our committees. Each year the Board of Directors votes on resolutions empowering committees to conduct specific work on behalf of the Board and to provide status reports at Board meetings.
