HeartGift is a nonprofit organization on a bold mission: to provide free, life-saving heart surgery to children born with congenital heart defects in countries where access to specialized care is extremely limited—or nonexistent. Each year, over one million children are born with congenital heart defects. Only 10% have access to the surgery they need. Without intervention, children live with chronic illness at best, and may not live to see their next birthday. That’s where HeartGift steps in. Through a growing global network of hospitals, medical professionals, volunteers, and nonprofit partners, we deliver high-quality surgical care at no cost to families. Our work is powered by collaboration—and guided by the belief that where a child lives should not determine whether they live. Since our founding, we’ve provided life-saving care to over 1,800 children from 37 countries. HeartGift operates in 10 countries around the world and is reaching children in some of the most remote and impoverished regions. At its core, HeartGift addresses a devastating global gap—the lack of access to life-saving cardiac care for children in low-resource settings. For the children we serve, one surgery can mean the difference between a lifetime of suffering or the chance to grow, thrive, and live a full life. For their families and communities, the ripple effect is profound—restored health means restored hope, dignity, and opportunity. But our impact goes beyond surgeries.
