The Independent Florida Alligator serves as the student newspaper for the University of Florida and has operated in Gainesville, Florida since 1906. It is the largest student-run newspaper in the United States, with a daily circulation of 14,000 and readership surpassing 21,000.

The publication has been financially and editorially independent from the university since 1973. In August 2023, it launched an online feature to track crimes on the UF campus, known as the UF Campus Crime Project.
