The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) is a higher education institution based in New York, founded in 1886, that has evolved into a major center for Jewish learning. It grants undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees through five schools, including the Rabbinical School, the H. L. Miller Cantorial School and College of Jewish Music, and the William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education. The campus supports a broad set of programs and facilities, such as the Albert A. List College of Jewish Studies, the Rebecca and Israel Ivry Prozdor High School, a summer school, five research institutes (notably the Melton Research Center for Jewish Education), and extensive library resources, along with student housing and community education initiatives. In April 2026, the Board of Trustees named Rabbi Mike Uram as its ninth Chancellor. JTS serves a diverse student body and broader Jewish communities in the United States, Israel, and around the world by providing education and professional development across religious and educational fields. Positioned as a leading institution for Jewish higher education and a central component of Conservative Judaism, JTS bases its work in New York and maintains a mid-sized organizational footprint.
