The Leonard Bernstein Office (LBO) operates as a family-owned music rights and publishing entity focused on the legacy of Leonard Bernstein. Its activities encompass licensing Bernstein’s symphonies, operas, song cycles, chamber works, film scores, and Broadway scores such as West Side Story, Candide, On the Town, and Mass, as well as managing editing and promotional efforts related to Bernstein’s lifework. The organization also highlights the conducting legacy through a substantial catalog of recordings and filmed performances and supports educational initiatives, including Bernstein’s Young People’s Concerts with the New York Philharmonic, underscoring its broad role across education, classical music, and musical theater.

Based in New York City, the office serves educational institutions, performing arts organizations, and media and production companies, among others, by promoting its catalog to schools, universities, conservatories, libraries, and industry partners. Since Bernstein’s passing in 1990, the LBO has been co-owned and operated by his children, positioning it as a small, family-led enterprise with a diversified scope within the music industry. The company maintains a footprint in licensing, editing, and publishing, leveraging Bernstein’s legacy to reach millions of musicians and institutions worldwide.” } (^)(null) } )?
