The Maestro Foundation is a Santa Monica, California-based nonprofit in the performing arts that supports emerging classical musicians and expands access to chamber music. It was founded in 1984 by V. Shannon Clyne, Qamar Lodhie, and Aaron Mendelsohn to assist a promising young musician and has since broadened its programs and scholarships. In 1989, Aaron Mendelsohn initiated a chamber music series hosted in his residence, which evolved into the Maestro Chamber Music Society and has included broadcasts on Classical K-USC and NPR's Performance Today. The organization administers initiatives such as an Instrument Lending Program started in 2000 to provide professional-quality bows and instruments, supported by an Instrument Endowment Fund. It serves local musicians and music programs by offering support that assists career development and audience engagement, reflecting its mission to nurture talent and broaden access to classical music.
