Founded in 1974, The Montessori School of Raleigh & Carolina Preparatory Academy is a mid-sized private school in Raleigh, North Carolina, serving children from six weeks through Grade 12. The school follows the Montessori method, emphasizing self-directed, hands-on, and project-based learning guided by each child’s interests and abilities. In the middle grades, students continue developing as independent learners through a project-based Montessori curriculum, while the high school program incorporates the International Baccalaureate framework to support college preparation and real-world experience.

The institution aims to provide a safe environment where foundational skills are built early and learning expands into real-world contexts. Its target market comprises families seeking a continuous Montessori-based education across early education to high school, with a rigorous program at the upper levels. Prospective families can attend information sessions or arrange campus visits, and a recent staffing update notes the January 2024 appointment of Ruth Campbell to the after-school care team.
