The Oxbow School is an interdisciplinary program for high school students that combines visual arts with academics, aiming to develop students’ critical thinking and self-directed learning. Through rigorous studio art practice anchored in inquiry, the program seeks to help students build a sense of identity and confidence while preparing them to navigate a complex, interconnected world. Based in Napa, California, the school positions itself within the artists and writers sector, offering programs that extend students’ learning beyond traditional classroom bounds.

The organization operates with a focus on experiential education and elective opportunities, including a Summer Art Camp that has been part of its history since the mid-2000s. The school serves a regional audience and has engaged in partnerships and program expansions over the years, such as reinstating a Teaching Fellow program and launching elective offerings. The campus and administrative activity reflect a small-to-mid-sized institution led from Napa, with a mission centered on immersive, studio-driven learning for high school students.
