My Dad, Francisco Rey (Frank), put family first. He opened his insurance office in Sleepy Hollow in 1978 to be close to home and so he could walk to his mother’s house, where she would prepare homemade Spanish dishes for lunch. It was also easy for the kids to walk to the office after school to visit and work.

Besides his family, my father’s second interest was making insurance understandable and accessible for everyone. As a second generation American with his first language being Spanish, he could relate to feeling frustrated and confused when one couldn’t understand what was going on. He dedicated himself to serving his clientele, which included many bilingual families in the local community.

He believed in order for people to get insurance, they first had to understand insurance. He started the business to demystify the complicated world of insurance and help people feel more comfortable asking for and getting the right coverage for their families and their businesses. This demystifying practice has been continued by his daughter, Laura, since taking over the business in 2013.

After forging out in different directions, I found themselves drawn back to the community in which I grew up. So, here , celebrating 44 years of service!
 While the technology of business and the insurance industry has changed (for the better), my fundamental commitment to making insurance understandable and accessible to everyone has remained constant.
