The San Francisco Marathon connects athletes with the heart of their surroundings, giving them the rare opportunity to fill the city’s streets and bridges with the pursuit of challenge and the spirit of camaraderie. This iconic race attracts top endurance athletes from around the country and the globe, as well as many of the Silicon Valley's noted tech companies and leaders. Like the city itself, The San Francisco Marathon is a race unlike any other. Runners enjoy waterfront miles along the Embarcadero, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Crissy Field; feel their heart pound as they race across the Golden Gate Bridge; speed past landmarks like Coit Tower, Golden Gate Park, and AT&T Park; and pound the pavement through San Francisco’s liveliest neighborhoods like Haight-Ashbury and The Mission. The San Francisco Marathon is a weekend long event – beginning with 50,000 participants at our Race Expo, followed by 27,000 runners on Race Day, and concluding with an unparalleled celebration at our Finish Line Festival.
