The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine is a nonprofit professional association within the hospitals and health care sector. It represents more than 6,500 individual members, with a core constituency of maternal-fetal medicine subspecialists—obstetricians who have completed advanced training and board certification in maternal-fetal medicine. The organization also welcomes physicians in related disciplines, as well as nurses, genetic counselors, ultrasound technicians, MFM administrators, and others. All members work toward achieving optimal and equitable perinatal outcomes for people who desire or experience pregnancy. Based in Washington, District of Columbia, the Society operates as a membership-driven body within the professional health care community. By coordinating a diverse group of clinicians and allied professionals, it supports the advancement of care for complex pregnancies.
