Thompson's Point is a redevelopment site in Portland, Maine, positioned on the Fore River with a long industrial history as a rail and shipyard hub. Historically, it served as the Cumberland and Oxford Canal terminus and later as a transfer point for rail and shipyard work, notably housing Maine’s first electric crane. Today, it functions as a center for creative activity, with brewers, restaurateurs, designers, musicians, and makers occupying the preserved buildings on the property, which spans about 2.25 million square feet at the city’s edge. 
The site is planned to broaden into a mixed-use environment that could include a hotel, a children's museum, recreational opportunities near water and trails, as well as residences, offices, and shared green space. It positions itself within the entertainment providers sector and aims to offer a live/work/learn environment open to all, supporting a developing ecosystem of small businesses and cultural activity in Portland.
